Just because Dr Oz features a supplement on his show doesn’t mean it’s right for you! And, just because a product is natural doesn’t mean it’s safe. Our Clinical Nutritionist and other expert staff are trained to advise you, oversee your supplement regimen, and steer you on the right path.

Nutritional Counseling & Diet Planning

Our acupuncturist Chelsey Dodd, AP holds a second Master’s Degree in Clinical Nutrition. For patients wishing to lose weight, or simply clean up their diet, Chelsey will devise a plan to meet your goals. Her nutritional and weight loss plans include sample menus, recipes, shopping lists, and advice on which brands to buy at the grocery store. During your consultation, she may suggest blood work or other testing to determine your metabolic state, food sensitivities and level of inflammation in your gut. If you’re battling low metabolism or inflammation, diet alone won’t result in weight loss.

Cleansing & Detoxification

Cleansing can be done as a routine way to eliminate toxins from the body, or may be incorporated into a weight loss program. We offer whole body detoxification and metabolic cleanses, liver cleanses, GI (gastrointestinal) cleanses, and candida cleanses to meet your needs.

Nutritional Supplementation

Nutritional supplements are an essential component of a healthy living regimen. There are many nutrients that we cannot get adequate amounts of through our diet. Vitamin D, Omega 3’s, and probiotics are a few examples. When used properly, nutritional supplements are powerful tools to help you maintain good health as you age.

Quality Matters

Supplements are not regulated by the FDA, so it is crucial that you buy quality products with trusted sourcing for purity and potency. All too often, patients buy inferior products to save money, but the truth is that money could very well be wasted.

Suppose you want to buy turmeric because you’ve heard it’s good for inflammation. If you go to a drugstore, or even a health food store, a product may list simply “turmeric” as the ingredient on the label, and a serving may contain 200mg. Yet research studies show that turmeric has the best anti-inflammatory effect when the herb is standardized to contain 95% curcuminoids at a dose of 750mg. Our practitioners stay abreast of this research to ensure you’ll receive therapeutic benefit from your supplements.

We carry pharmaceutical grade supplements from Douglas Labs, Xymogen, Biotics, MD Prescriptives, and Premier Labs. This means that the vitamins, minerals, plant extracts, and other active ingredients have been tested for purity and potency and are the best quality available. We are constantly hand-selecting products that will give you maximum benefit at the best price.

Chinese herbs are prescribed to treat both your symptoms and underlying imbalances according to Chinese medical principles. Chinese herbs, when used properly, can drastically speed up the healing process.

Safety and Quality Matter

Chinese herbs are generally safe when prescribed by a competent practitioner. Although Chinese herbs can interact with some western medications, we are aware of these contraindications and will make certain your health is never at risk.

Quality is crucial for therapeutic effectiveness and for your safety. Herbal formulas are not regulated by the FDA as they are considered food supplements like vitamins. This means it is important to know the source of the herbs and to verify that the herbs are tested to be free of pesticides, fungi, yeast, molds, bacteria, heavy metals and other contaminants. Many of the cheap imports from China are contaminated with these substances, and have even been found to contain trace amounts of over-the-counter pharmaceuticals like pseudoephedrine.

Our Promise to You

At Indian River Acupuncture, you will NOT find any of these contaminated or inferior products on our shelves. The herbs we sell may cost a little more, but that is simply because we ONLY use companies that certify and guarantee their herbs to be 100% pure, validated by rigorous testing methods, including chromatography and immunoassay.
