Chris Nielson MD is a board certified geriatrician who has been practicing medical acupuncture and electro acupuncture exclusively for the past three years. After receiving her medical degree from UF College of Medicine, Dr Chris completed a residency in Family and Community Medicine and a fellowship in Geriatric Medicine both at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center. She worked in academic medicine at University of Florida for a year before becoming a medical director of geriatric programs for a hospice organization. She became board certified in hospice and palliative medicine during that time and also completed training in medical acupuncture through the UCLA School of Medicine.

It is through medical acupuncture that Dr. Chris has been able to make the biggest impact on her patients’ symptoms and overall well-being. Because of this, she left her career in western medicine to practice solely medical acupuncture. Dr. Chris joined Indian River Acupuncture in 2013 and enjoys the healing atmosphere, collegial environment of continued learning and community education, and her wonderfully skilled co-acupuncturists.
Dr. Chris’s husband is an anesthesiologist at Indian River Medical Center and her twin sons enjoy telling their friends about “mom’s needles.”
